The official IGDA Game Design SIG (special interest group) was approved a few weeks ago. I was instrumental in building the proposal that was ultimately accepted by IGDA executive leadership, and am now co-chair (alongside Coray Seifert, of Kaos Studios) of the SIG's interim steering committee.
To give you a little background:
The IGDA Game Design Special Interest Group (GDSIG) connects game designers from all over the world with a common purpose: to improve our practice and understanding of game design.
We've just recently launched the official GDSIG Blog, which I will be administrating until our first official elections (currently planned to take place shortly after GDC). More details about the Game Design SIG, including how to join up, are located there. If you're a game designer, please consider joining (both the IGDA and the SIG itself). We have a strong and highly-active community (100+ members as of this writing), and as the SIG is currently in its infancy, now is the perfect opportunity to help shape its future!Posted In:
